bikepooling

The Bikepooling beta is live!

...if only in version 0.9.0. As a labor of love, from a tiny team without enough love to give, it's an iterative process. The true gala (if Apple can "launch" its software, then we can hold a gala) will be on May 11th. Expect clouds of features and MUCH-improved interface to magically appear, en masse, in the next few days or weeks, including:

  • Ajaxy start/end-point attachment in Ride creation, for a more simple, one-click ride wizard (some finished.)
  • Ajax "TagSearch", which narrows routes and groups down to your door very quickly (mostly finished.)
  • Wiki bike manual editing! We'll create a compendium of bike knowledge (finished.)
  • More extensive and interesting user profiles (ongoing.)
  • Widgets for your groups' home pages. Local weather reporting, useful features for organizing Bikepools and getting more members, and better themability.
  • Userpoints-revenue structure. Turn your "points" received from making posts and inviting users into swag!
  • Better tools for managing who's coming on a particular ride and how to find each other. I'm going to make it as easy and one-click as possible to get a whole squad together (some finished, ongoing.)

And more coming soon, of course. Keep an eye on http://www.bikepooling.com/blog for updates, or subscribe to the RSS Feed.

About Bikepooling

Bikepooling was made by one guy in San Francisco using free software and free time. That's why it looks like it was designed by an engineer and not an artist, and that's why new features take a week instead of a day.
